Breeze33 Mini Split Installation and Start Up

Mini splits can be your best friend or your call back nightmare. That outcome will be decided on your application and installation of the equipment. Sizing and proper application is the most important. Load calculations must be done per room and sized appropriately. These are inverter driven systems, but you must remember there is a BTU range they operate within.

Not sizing correctly can result in call backs ranging from over/under cooling and heating, dehumidification issues, performance issues, damaging equipment, and most of all unhappy end users.

You have a range of options when it comes to selecting the proper equipment, and a wall head may not always be the best answer. For example, if you have two bedrooms that require a low BTU load and you can’t offer an indoor unit small enough per room, then you may want to offer a different solution such as an indoor ducted unit in the attic that can be split off to both rooms and properly provide the correct BTUs required.

Most of your callbacks that aren’t related to improper sizing will more than likely be attributed to not following proper installation guidelines. Always make sure you are using the proper wire size/breakers to power your outdoor unit, and use the correct stranded mini split wire to run from the outdoor to the indoor unit. Improper communication wires can lead to various fault codes. All line sets should be properly sized and not exceed the maximum length per equipment specifications. It is always recommended to cut and re-flare line sets from the factory. Do not put anything on the threads and make sure the flare nuts are torqued to factory specs. Triple evacuation down to 500 microns is a must to make sure the lines are properly evacuated and ready for the system to be opened. Make sure the drain lines are running properly whether your installation requires a condensate pump, or a gravity fed drain.
